I actually started doing this over a month ago, I just never mentioned it. But I've had it.
Until the Cubs win five straight games, I refuse to buy, wear or use any Cubs gear.
No hats, no jerseys, no t-shirts, no shorts, no stupid rubberbands that pull the hair off my wrist, no keychains, no lighters, no sunglasses, nothing. No Cubs tickets either.
In the meantime I will continue wearing gear from other teams. I have a Boston hat and a Cleveland shirt that I like, and a White Sox hat. I'm even going to the Cell for a game when Boston comes to town, but I'll probably leave the Boston hat at home. People wearing the opposing team's colors aren't even safe on the field...
But until these numbnuts find a way to win and win with regularity, I'm not doing anything in public that indicates I support any of their actions, unless those actions include firing Dusty Baker and at least Andy MacPhail.
Even if I have bad hair all summer long.

Fans attending games should refuse to buy anything at Wrigley Field until the 2006 Cubs start winning regularly. No food, no gear and no beer. (if your a hungry sort, sneak a lunch in your pockets. Until the Tribune Co. decides to frisk you as you enter the park)
The ban action by the fans might mean, Good-bye Dusty. Likewise Henry and perhaps MacVail(Getting rid of Macvail maybe a problem, because win or loose, the Tribune Co.loves his bottom line figures)
Then stop the BS, and let's rely on healthy starters, not injured arms or maybe-ifs. I wonder how many fans realize that during his entire career, Wood has never pitched for a complete season!
"n the meantime I will continue wearing gear from other teams"
I was beginning to wonder if you'd have anything to wear if you nixed all your Cubs gear.
;)
My sister recently said she's a Sox fan. I told her her hair wasn't big enough...
I don't think getting rid of MacPhail would be a problem, Anon. They don't need him to maintain the bottom line, all they need is Beautiful Wrigley Field and the memory of Harry Caray. Anyone of even minimal competence could turn a profit.
And Laura, yes, in fact I do have to do my laundry a little more often with fewer wardrobe choices. I'm rather glad I didn't fill a drawer with Cubs boxer shorts...
